Calculating Subcooling
Next determine the pressure and temperature of the liquid leaving line of the condenser. This is the pressure as shown on the red dial. Take the temperature of the line as close as possible but at least six inches away. Best results are obtained by making sure the line is clean and using a thermocouple wrapped with insulation held in place with Velcro.
- Enter Leaving Liquid Line Pressure
- Enter Leaving Liquid Line Temperature
At the top of the Subcooling tab screen are four values: The saturation temperature, target subcool, actual subcool, and subcool delta. Valid subcool is achieved when delta is less than three degrees off in either direction.
Target vs. Actual Subcooling
Once you have determined the target Subcooling method it's time to compare your target against actual. You will be entering the following values:
- Required - Verify proper Refrigerant in [Menu] tab, [Equipment] menu item
- Optional - change pressure and temperature units in Settings Tab
- For Automatic Target - Enter Indoor Wet Bulb Temp
- For Automatic Target - Enter Outdoor Dry Bulb Temp
Determine the pressure and temperature of the liquid leaving line of the condenser. This is the pressure as shown on the red dial. Take the temperature of the line as close to the exit point as possible but at least six inches away. Best results can be obtained by making sure the line is clean and using a thermocouple wrapped with insulation held in place with a neutral material.
- Enter Leaving Liquid Line Pressure in the app calculator input section
- Enter Leaving Liquid Line Temperature in the app calculator input section
Outputs
At the top of the Subcooling tab screen are four values: The saturation temperature, target subcool, actual subcool, and subcool delta. Valid subcool is achieved when delta is less than three degrees off in either direction.
As you change inputs all calculated values are updated in real-time.
