Partition Ceiling
Use Partition ceiling if the construction item is a partition ceiling adjacent to an unconditioned space such as an attic.
Partition Ceiling
Construction (Load) Type
Press the row to select and bring up a Selection list of Ceiling types defined within the application. The list is grouped by major section:
- Under Ventilated Attic
- On Exposed Beams
- Below Roof Joists
Select a type from within the list and press [Save] to return to the Partition Ceiling view.
Reference
Enter a reference for the item.
Partition Heating Difference
Enter the estimated heating difference in degrees between the unconditioned side of the partition ceiling and the conditioned side. In the Winter, if the unconditioned side is 60 degrees Fahrenheit and the conditioned side is 70 degrees fahrenheit the difference is 10.
Partition Cooling Difference
Enter the estimated cooling difference in degrees between the unconditioned side of the partition ceiling and the conditioned side. In the Summer, If the unconditioned side is 90 degrees Fahrenheit and the conditioned side is 75 degrees fahrenheit the difference is 15.
Ceiling Slope
Press the row to select and bring up a list of ceiling slopes shown in degrees and inches per foot. The slope is used to adjust for total ceiling area. Press [Save] to return to the Ceiling view.

Area
Length
Enter length.
Height
Enter height.
Opening
Opening area is automatically calculated by summing the area of all child items (Skylights) on this patition ceiling.
Net
Opening area is subtracted from Total Ceiling Area to calculate Net Area.
Load
Heating
Yes or no indicates whether or not Heating is calculated for this load.
Cooling
Yes or no indicates whether or not Cooling is calculated for this load.
Count
Count is the number of occurrences of this particular item, typically one.
