5.0 Zone Loads
Loads
Usage
The Zone loads view contains all zone-level loads within the zone.
- For load calcs of an entire structure without any room by room loads this view contains ALL loads for the project including Ductwork, Walls, Windows, etc.
- For Load Calcs containing Room by Room loads Zone Level Loads will typically only be Ductwork, Ventilation, Internal Gain, Blower Heat. All other loads (walls, windows, etc.) are associated with a room (bath, kitchen, etc.).
Section Headers
Loads in this view are grouped by Zone. The top of each section contains the name of the zone as well as the total heating and cooling load for the zone.
Add New Zone
Zones are not added in this view. Zones are added from the [Zone] View accessed from the project home view.

Load Type
First, select the load type you want to add. Load types may be any of the following:
- Above Grade Wall

Select Load Type "Source"
Once you select a load type there are one or more choices for the source of your new load. By default the same load type from the "Default" project is displayed. In addition, if you have already added one of the same load type to your project that load will also be available as a source. This allows you to enter a wall once for a project then copy it to different walls changing only the values that are different, such as dimensions.
New Load
Once you have identified the load type and source load you need to designate an name for the load and zone if your project has multiple zones.
Reference
Enter a reference or name for the load.
Zone
If your project has multiple zones and the one displayed is not where you want this load placed press the row to bring up the Zone Select View. Select the appropriate zone and press [Save] to go back to the Add Load View.
Windows, Doors, and Skylights
Why Different
Recall that the area for Windows, Doors, and Skylights is automatically calculated and subtracted from the "parent" wall. In order to make this calculation these load types need to be attached to a wall (window, door) or a ceiling (skylight). In addition, if you have a wall with several windows the orientation may be set once for the wall then all windows on the wall may be set to follow the wall orientation.
Add New Load - Window
Location (wall or ceiling)
When adding a window, door, or skylight it's necessary to designate the destination wall or ceiling.
Completing the Task
Once you are happy with the source and destination information press [Save] to add the new load to your project.
